Wellness & Personal Growth
You Matter! I believe all healing starts with self-love. Any time and energy put into being kind and working on yourself is never lost. That is the root of true healing. I've created a list of recommendations for holistic, therapeutic self-care, wellness and personal growth. I embrace a variety of different practices and schools of thought. Don't take my word for anything. Practice, follow and do whatever feels "right" for you. Follow your own truth, yet see what else is out there! Have fun on your journey.

Breathwork is free! Breathing is one of our body's beautiful autonomous systems that we actually can manipulate for the bettering of our health. Many of use shallow breaths that aren't allowing enough oxygen to infiltrate our bodies. More oxygen intake can help with blood circulation, lymph flow, digestion, mental clarity, less stress, better detoxification and many other, even spiritual, benefits, like releasing stored trauma in the body. There are a plethora of different breathing exercises for you to explore. Here are a few to get you started.
Meditation is simply sitting and focusing on your breath, while quieting your mind. For guided meditation pod-casts I like Against The Stream or you can go to their weekly classes in Los Angeles. Another organization with great classes is MeditateInLA.org. These organizations are from different Buddhist perspectives. Another simple form of meditation is a practice called Open Heart Meditation, which focuses on healing and opening your heart. Check out Youtube for all kinds of varying meditations.
Hypnotherapy facilitates getting to the root of any issue through the subconscious mind. People typically are only aware of the conscious mind. A hypnotherapist can help break through to the subconscious, where all of our unconscious behavior is recorded. By reprogramming your mind you can find yourself breaking bad habits. Google a practitioner in your area. You can also search YouTube for guided sessions or listen to subliminal theta or delta wave videos/audios as you are falling asleep. I personally love Marisa Peer's form of Hypnotherapy called RTT: Rapid Transformational Therapy.
Reiki is an energetic healing practice used to promote balance throughout the human system. Reiki treatment uses a practitioner as a conduit of Universal Life Force (REI) Energy (KI) through their hands onto the client. Reiki can be used to heal on the cellular level, relieving physical ailments that are often the result of an emotional disturbance or a blockage in the energetic flow in the body's meridians. Reiki can also utilize crystal therapy, sound therapy and Aromatherapy. Reiki is also useful in healing mental/emotional states, can increase spirituality and can clear chakras and auras from trauma and blockages. I also teach a Reiki 1-3 email certification course and do remote healing sessions.
EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) helps us to address negative emotions and release them, resulting in an alleviation of emotional, mental and physical issues. EFT uses acupressure by tapping on meridian lines to release negative emotions and the root causes of phobias or physical ailments. Tapping can be used for any blockages pertaining to smoking, weight-loss, financial abundance, etc. If you're interested in learning more on EFT, checkout this EBook from TheTappingSolution.com.
Emotion Code is simple yet effective technique developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson and helps you release trapped emotions in the body. Why carry all that baggage around? This system uses the subconscious mind and muscle testing (applied kinesiology), along with charts, to find the trapped emotions in your body. It's amazingly easy and effective. Check it out. He has a corresponding healing treatment specifically for body imbalances or deficiencies, called Body Code, and you can learn more about this fascinating and revolutionary modality in this video.
Chakra Balancing is very helpful in keeping your energy portals balanced and cleared which can make your emotions and mental activity feel more stable and your physical body feeling healthier and more balanced. YouTube has many different Chakra balancing, activating and healing guided meditations and sound therapy. Yoga, tai chi or qi gong are useful exercises in keeping your energy, prana or chi balanced and flowing properly. Reiki and many other energetic healing modalities like Sound Baths contribute to this. I also like to clear my energy by burning sage, doing a sea salt scrub or soak, and anointing my chakras with essential oils. Click here for a list of the major chakras.
Access Consciousness has been so effective for me and game-changing. It encourages you to ask the universe questions and letting life show up for you, rather than limiting yourself to having "all the answers" yourself. It can be a little hard to follow at first, but stick with it and it will start to make extreme sense and completely transform your life. It can truly open you up to a whole new level of consciousness and their tools are highly useful in giving you access to your true self! Between both leaders in the movement, Gary Douglas and Dain Heer, and their worldwide facilitators, they have plenty of books, classes, audios and videos for you to browse through. You can consider getting your "Bars run", which is an AC staple. I am a Certified Bars Practitioner if this is something you are interested in experiencing.
Trauma Release Work: Some resources to look up in your journey to heal and learn about any unresolved trauma are EMDR -you can look up a therapist who practices this in your area or try the online version www.VirtualEMDR.com, Subconscious Release Technique, The Complex PSTD Workbook, Somatopia.com, The Completion Process by Teal Swan, anything associated Peter Levine of Somatic Experiencing and definitely look up support groups in conjunction with working with a qualified therapist. I truly believe that most human suffering and illness is from unresolved trauma. Trauma can start in our early years leading to C-PTSD, or into our developing years as Developmental Trauma. Things such as car accidents or your parents unintentionally not meeting your needs as a child can create suffering in day-to-day life. Most "mental disorders" are symptoms of unresolved trauma, such as depression and anxiety. This work is the most necessary and eye-opening of all personal development I've sought out. Breathwork, meditation, exercise and tapping are all very complementary to this invaluable work. NOTE: trauma work is very intense and can make you feel fatigued, exhausted and unsettled. I HIGHLY recommend doing this work under the supervision of a therapist. I also suggest drinking plenty of water and using Grounding Techniques after doing any trauma work to get you calm, centered and back into present time safely. Finding Self has a very affordable program that goes deeper into grounding, somatic tools for nervous system regulation.
