Skin and the Microbiome Relationship

The father of modern medicine, Hippocrates, said, "all disease begins in the gut". Poor gut health that is stripped of beneficial bacteria, or Flora, can lead to a myriad of health issues from depression, to simple bloating or even bacterial vaginosis. You can see its effects as small or large, but the small things add up to large issues. Leaky gut syndrome (which is exactly what it sounds like), weak immune system to radical inflammation can all be caused by poor balance of the gut's microbiome.

When you can see it as something that effects inflammation and immunity, in the whole body, you can also view it as a problem in the skin, as well, like acne, eczema, psoriasis, aging and other inflammatory skin conditions. Funny enough, acne is commonly treated with internal and topical antibiotics which can adversely affect not only your gut's microbiome but your skin's topical microbiome. I highly recommend supplementing with potent probiotic that has a diverse list of beneficial bacteria and a 10+Billion CFU count.

You can also add fermented foods into your diet that are naturally rich in probiotics such as kefir, kimchi and sauerkraut. Lay off the antibiotics unless absolutely necessary and limit alcohol and eat clean. Topically, you can enhance your skin's microbiome with probiotic rich skincare such as Eminence Organics Clear Skin Probiotic line and Mother Dirt's biome friendly products. Also limit how much antibacterial products you use on your face and let your skin replenish its beneficial bacteria. Who doesn't need skincare tips? I'm an Esthetician aka Skin Specialist who has battled with acne for far too long and wants to save you from the strife it brings with it! It can stem from many different things, but one thing is for sure; it's your body's way of communicating with you. And for all of you "growing" with acne, I can help you to stay youthful in the process.  I am also a wellness, spiritual and mental/emotional health advocate. I promote self-love and self-healing.
